Gourdoughs

“Big. Fat. Donuts.” This is not a stretch for the doughnuts at Gourdoughs. Even calling them doughnuts is almost inaccurate. The $3.25 desserts here are more like heavenly meals. Served made-to-order and with many eclectic, even brow-raising varieties, Gourdoughs is no doubt the most unique doughnut place in Austin. These interesting flavors include Miss Shortcake, Razzle Dazzle and the Flying Pig which is topped with bacon and maple syrup icing. The Flying Pig is not the only meaty menu...
Life under the ocean

In honor of Earth Day 2010, Disney nature filmed Oceans, a documentary consisting of shots from the bottom of the ocean to the ice in the Arctic. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the movie was highly entertaining, especially for a nature documentary. The way the film was arranged made it more like a story than a documentary, which was very refreshing. Oceans showed a perspective that most aren’t used to seeing, which was the marine lives, and how they go about surviving under the sea. ...
How to Train Your Dragon: movie review
04-08-10
How do you train a dragon? An interesting idea for a movie, that one might’ve never known the answer to if this hadn’t made its way into theatres. With surprisingly good ratings, this movie also serves as a perfect family film. Centering on a little boy named Hiccup, the story supports anti-war ideas in an easy way for kids to understand. Hiccup revolutionizes his small civilization with a new idea of keeping dragons as pets rather than killing them. While this idea is foreign and unheard of...

Top tens of the decade

At the end of the decade, there were millions of music artists, movies. There were many big actors, actresses and video games. So we here at the Featherduster wondered “What did Westlake remember and love?” Well, we set out to do just that. The Last Song

Miley Cyrus started off her acting/singing career as the Disney Channel sensation Hannah Montana. However, she starts to veer off into different waters as she hits the big screen. In the movie The Last Song, the story plot was exactly the type of intense romance genre that I expected from best-selling author Nicholas Sparks. The movie contains cheesy love scenes, heart-break, confusion — everything a chick-flick would contain. Miley, who plays Ronnie, starts off as a rebel kid who has to ...
