Boys varsity basketball holds undefeated District title
The Chaps’ win on Jan. 22 against Pflugerville completed their perfect record for the first round of District. Starting seniors Cody Doolin, Carl Meyertons, Connor Kemper and Gus Leeper have played major roles in the team’s success this season.
“Playing with the older guys this season is a change for the underclassmen,” junior John Cummings said. “But they show some great leadership out on the court.”
The team is continuing to fight to not only defend their currently flawless District record, but also their State rank, which is currently number five. A unanimous goal of the team is to win the State championship and they use every game to prepare for playoffs.
“Playing in the championship games of the Pasadena and San Antonio tournaments during pre-season were great experience because they were such intense, meaningful games,” head coach Tres Ellis said. “Hopefully that experience will pay off come playoffs.”
