Shooting to score
Soccer season starts, teams work hard in games
As the soccer season moves into District play both the girls JV blue and red soccer have accumulated multiple wins and few losses. So far the JV blue team’s overall record is 7-1, while the JV red team’s overall record is 2-2-0.
During the off season both teams worked hard to prepare for their upcoming games. During practices the grueling drills and time spent running has been very helpful to all the players.
“I think that off season has helped me the most for running,” freshman Rachel Nauert said. “We ran a lot in it and it has helped me to be able to run and not get too tired during our games.”
Besides helping to prepare players for games, practices have helped in other ways too, such as ball skills, stamina and endurance.
“Compared to where we started at the beginning of the season I think we've progressed a lot and will continue to do so,” junior Paige Rylander said. “The team feeds off of each other and we all push each other to do better. I personally have improved by trying to pull my weight for the team, because if I mess up I'm letting more than myself down.”
Between practices and games both teams have set goals and have high expectations for their season.
“Our JV is really strong this year, and so I fully expect to take district,” Paige said. “It's that simple really. We're going to rock this season.”
