The robotics team is on a roll
Yet again this team of technically inclined students is preparing for a competition. From the lab comes the sound of power tools, while in the classroom quiet music and intent typing provide a buffer for those with their minds on a different project.
The newest competition is called Breakaway. The robots they create have to shoot a ball into goals on either side of the field, and navigate around 12-inch bumps.
“It’s like soccer, with robots,” sophomore Jonny Dahm explained.
“What we’ve got is a driving robot — a semi complete driving robot,” senior David Weiser said. “We’re working on kicking mechanisms.”
They still have a lot to do by Feb. 23, the date of their next competition, when they will travel to Houston. After that, they’ll move on to Atlanta for another round of competitions.
