Former Hyline members get ready to pass on tradition to “New-News”
This week, the “New-News,” incoming Hyline members, are participating in New-New Week, the time set aside to inaugurate them into the team. This week is also when they get the chance to try on and get fitted for their new Hyline uniforms.
“[The New-News] tried out in December and they basically had to wait a semester to become a part of the team,” director Chelsee Capezzuti said. “This is our first official week [when] we switch over to the team for next year.”
First Course is a banquet for next year’s Hyline team and will take place in the Chap Court May 19. All of the families of next year’s team will attend.
“It’s the first time the 2010-2011 dancers come together,” Capezzuti said. “We will have our First Course, the first sampling of our team. The officers and board from this past year's team passes down their title to the newest leaders.”
For the “New-News” especially, becoming a part of the Hyline dance team is a fulfilling dream.
“What I'm most looking forward to is getting the chance to know all the girls on the team and being a part of an amazing legacy,” sophomore Megan Kelly said.
