Girls sub-varsity track finishes season by running circles around competition at District
The sub-varsity track girls finished their season with junior varsity placing third and the freshman placing second at District April 14. Before that, on April 8, the sub-varsity teams completed at the tri-meet at Dripping Springs.
“At the tri-meet, everyone ran together: varsity, junior varsity and the freshmen,” coach Chris Carter said. “So the stats were all mixed up.”
After the District meet, the subvarsity teams’s seasons are over, but the girls are already thinking ahead to the 2011 season.
“I did sprinting this year, like I did in middle school, but I also competed in pole vaulting,” freshman Natasha Keshishian said. “I wanted to try pole vaulting because it was something different. I was inspired after seeing the varsity girls practice. I’m looking forward to improving my times in sprinting, and vaulting higher next year.”
At District, both the junior varsity team and the freshmen team performed well, with the freshmen team placing in the top three in all but two of the events:
